Privacy Policy

Harbor View Presbyterian Church (“Harbor View,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information harborviewpc.org collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

Information we collect

Information you choose to give us. When you email us, use a contact link, or ask to join our newsletter, we receive what you send, which may include your name, email address, phone number, and your message or prayer request. Our newsletter sign-up simply opens a pre-filled email to the church office, so you decide exactly what to share.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as your browser and device type and an approximate location based on your IP address) to keep the site secure and working properly.

Cookies and embedded content. We do not use advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies. Some pages include content from other companies, such as a Google Map on our Visit page and Google Fonts used across the site. When those elements load, Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy.

How we use your information

We use the information above only to serve you and run the site. Specifically, we use it to:

  • respond to your messages, questions, and prayer requests;
  • send you our newsletter if you have asked to receive it;
  • operate, secure, and improve the website.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. This website does not collect or store your payment-card information.

Giving and member login

Online donations and member logins take place on separate, secure platforms operated by other organizations (our giving provider and our church management system). Any information you enter there is handled under that provider’s privacy policy, not this one.

Service providers

We use trusted third-party providers to host our website, store its content, and deliver the embedded features described above. They may process limited information only as needed to provide those services to us, and not for their own purposes.

How we protect information

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, and access to the website’s editing tools is limited to authorized church staff and volunteers. No method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Enrollment and family information for our Early Care & Education Program (ECEP) is handled directly with families, not on this website. If you believe a child has given us information here, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. You may also contact the church office to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU’s GDPR or California’s privacy laws, and we will honor applicable requests.

Links to other websites

Our site links to other places, including our social media pages, our giving page, and partner ministries. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites we do not operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed, and significant changes will be posted on this page.
